My first experience with sales was a happy accident. I grew up very close to a golf course, so I figured out if I found some stray golf balls in the surrounding woods, I could collect them and sell them back to the golfers walking up the course finishing their round. I guess I was pretty good at it because I earned enough to buy drinks and fries in the clubhouse all summer long.
While going to university I was a waiter at a popular local restaurant. I quickly realized that this was just another form of selling, in this case myself! By super serving my customers, the tips paid my tuition for the next 3 years.
After graduating, I landed my first real sales job by making cold calls out of the Yellow Pages - pre-internet days when persistence was the only algorithm that mattered. That foundation led to over 30 years of sales experience in broadcast media, including radio, TV, newspaper, digital, and outdoor advertising across Winnipeg and beyond. As a B2B sales consultant working daily with owners and managers across retail, restaurants, automotive, home services, construction, government, non-profits, and charities, media sales became my classroom for understanding how every type of business grows.
I didn't realize it at the time, but my natural instinct was the foundation of what I now call relational selling, building genuine, long-term relationships rather than chasing quick transactions. Building trust put me consistently ahead of the curve. I came to understand that sales isn't about the win in the room. It's about creating real value that helps a business grow - and then staying around long enough to see it happen.

The "logo" for the company is my own design, and speaks to my belief that sales is what helps businesses grow. By creating a strong root system, then with care and nourishment, the harvest becomes the reward.
Over three decades as a commissioned media sales professional in Winnipeg, selling radio, TV, newspaper, digital, and outdoor advertising to businesses of every size and category. Five years as founder of Living is Selling, providing outsourced contract sales, B2B sales coaching, and traditional media buying to small and medium-sized businesses across Manitoba and Canada. Every service offered is one I have personally practiced, not just studied. That's the difference between a consultant who knows the theory and one who has lived the result.
Sales is the root system that helps businesses thrive. With care and nourishment, the roots grow strong, the business grows, and the harvest is the reward. When you put your customers first and think long-term, selling becomes not just rewarding but transformative. It's also extremely relevant in our personal lives. Every day, we sell our thoughts, wishes, plans, and needs to our families and friends. Let's not forget our associates at work, even if you're not in the sales department! Perhaps this explains how I chose the name of my business, Living Is Selling.
This belief is the foundation of everything at Living is Selling - from outsourced sales support for Winnipeg small businesses to one-on-one sales coaching for B2B teams across Canada.
When I'm not working, I'm outdoors biking, hiking, or on a photography mission. All of the pictures on my website are my own.
